NPC pursues the following guidelines in production:
Low density stocking
Use of sedimentation basins to reduce farm effluent and protect aquatic ecosystems
Chemical & antibiotic-free farming practices,
Efficient disease management through a comprehensive bio-security and sanitation measures
Protection of natural resources such as mangroves and local habitat.
Adoption of best practice such as lowering of nutrient inputs and maintaining dissolved oxygen concentrations
Continuous enhancement of shrimp production through selective breeding
Adherence to principles of responsible aquaculture.
Production is maintained throughout the year – one of the benefits of the Saudi climate – with an average time of 180 days for 36-40 shrimp. Feeding takes place 4 times a day and uses feed mixed by NPC’s nutritionists.
Harvesting takes place at night and uses a proprietary process to minimize stress on the animals.
