NPC is seeking a highly experienced Raw Materials Purchasing Manager to procure raw materials for the operation of its feed mill, which currently produces 40,000 tonnes each year.

The main focus of the position is to facilitate the purchase of raw materials by providing real time information on the state of markets and likely cost trends and allowing NPC to take advantage of “best buy” opportunities.

The manager will be responsible for maintaining a constant supply of raw materials at a cost within or below budget expectations. In addition he will be responsible for investigating alternative protein sources and working with the nutrition panel to qualify these protein sources and to ensure sustainable sourcing.

The overall focus of the role is to use their expertise to reduce the costs of raw materials in the Feed Mill while maintaining quality.

They will do this through:

•  Developing and maintaining relationships in the fish meal markets and in particular with fish meal factories and suppliers in Peru, India and alternative source countries;

•  Advising NPC regarding the likely supply and price trends of raw materials;

•  Facilitating timely purchase requisitions and orders, including working with the Finance Department to utilise the best long term financing options for major purchases;

•  Determining the best mix of short and long term supply contracts;

•  Identifying the most appropriate mechanisms for purchasing raw materials, and specifically Fish meal, Fish Oil and grains.

•  Ensuring that raw materials meet NPC's quality standards and that new suppliers meet our prequalification standards e.g antibiotic free.

The role must ensure that suppliers and contractors act as “business partners”, driving a culture of performance and contract delivery.

It is anticipated that the role will require significant travel.

Initially the Purchasing Manager will report directly to the General Manager – Shrimp Production.

•  Liaising with:

•  Finance Department
•  Materials Management Department

•  Developing and maintaining relationships in the fish meal markets and in particular with fish meal factories and suppliers in Peru and alternative source countries;

•  Advising NPC regarding the likely supply and price trends of raw materials;

•  Analysing and reporting on supply trends, including prices, volumes, quotas and demand.

•  Report on trends in raw material usage and in particular protein sources for aquaculture.

•  Facilitating timely purchase requisitions and orders, including working with the Finance Department to utilise the best long term financing options for major purchases;

•  Determining the best mix of short and long term supply contracts;

•  Identifying the most appropriate mechanisms for purchasing raw materials, and specifically Fish meal, Fish Oil and grains.

•  Ensuring that raw materials meet NPC's quality standards and that new suppliers meet our prequalification standards.

•  Identifying alternative raw materials and specifically alternative protein sources for use within shrimp and fish feeds.

•  Working with the nutrition panel, R&D Department and company nutritionist to identify, test and qualify alternative protein sources.

•  Critically review, develop and report on purchase progress.

•  Establish and maintain functioning working relationships with other NPC operational units

•  Have the ability to identify potential enhancement & improvement opportunities and deliver results to improve the operation incl. multiple options for complex business problems.

Qualifications

•  Undergraduate degree in science or business

•  5 years international raw material purchasing, specifically in relation to feed mill (terrestrial or aquatic) purchasing with significant exposure to the fish meal industry

•  Exposure to financing mechanisms for commodity trading and futures markets

•  High level of written and spoken Spanish preferable.

Suitable candidates must match the above scope of responsibilities and must have the clear potential to succeed. Candidates will be evaluated on the following:

National Prawn Company, a large vertically integrated aquaculture company based on the Red Sea coast, is diversifying their production capacity to produce fish. The company is undertaking a three-year development plan for production of Greater Amberjack in a state of the art land based re-circulation production facility. This fully financed project is being developed over three years.

The company is now seeking a dynamic, hands-on, hatchery manager to be responsible for hatchery production of this new species.

The position requires a solid educational background in early rearing of marine fish as well as a minimum of five years experience in positions of increasing responsibility in a marine fish hatchery setting.

This role will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity of being involved with one of the world's leading marine aquaculture operations and to lead an important component of their growth strategy. •  Oversee all technical aspects of the production cycle

•  Direct the department consisting of senior technical staff and technicians

•  Prepare monthly production reporting, budget management and annual budget preparation.

The incumbent will work as part of a team that includes; Growout Manager, Broodstock Manager, Processing and Harvest manager.
